Updating hundreds of existing characters

Moho Animation

Puffin Rock is a popular existing Netflix series and, as such, has a whole cast of critters that populate the island. My first challenge was to identify how long it would take to update each and every character for the pipeline, as Moho (the software of choice) had had major updates since the series. Not only had it been bought by new developers, but it had two versions since the series animation ended. Every character, from Oona to the smallest blades of grass needed massive updates. Only the simplest of rigs worked as expected. It was a chance to add a lot of fancy new solutions to the rigs to bring them up to feature standard! Overall, I believe I worked on over 600 rigs!

Marvin

A nervous and sweet Otter.
I rigged a four legged version and a two legged upright version. He includes a full turnaround, full mouthset that works in the turnaround, and my favourite part, cute little under-paws.

Isabelle

A confident, young Tufted Puffin.
Features: full turnarounds, a swimming
version, full expression set.

Phoenix

An exciteable and positive Golden Pheasant.
Features: full turnarounds, beak sets that work with the turns, a fully posable multi-feather tail and a full wing set!

Isabelle's Mummy

An adult Tufted Puffin seeking a new home for her family. Features: animatable tufts that work with the head turnaround, full flying wingset that can have animation copied from any other adult puffin.

Bat

A CUTE bat.
Features: 45 Degree head turns from centre. Flying wing set. The cutest expressions and simple mouth set. A Sleeping version.

It was an honour spending a year on Puffin Rock! The film had a cinema release in the UK and Ireland and hopefully will be hitting a streaming service near you, soon! Contact me for a full rigging reel.

Cardiff Animation Festival

I had the amazing opportunity to host a brilliant Director Q+A for the Welsh premiere of the film, in Cardiff! I was so excited to be involved, Cardiff Animation Festival is the best film festival in the UK in my opinion!
